I often encounter executives recently promoted into the ranks of upper management who find it difficult to relieve themselves of previous tasks. The consequence is an overtaxed schedule hampering a situational overview of current trends and challenges in the new job.
My work uses the “5 Levels of Leadership” by John C. Maxwell to start the rethinking process. It’s about letting go of the “old” function in order to concentrate on a goal oriented strategy for the firm’s future. My role is to help the manager create space for their new leadership role. That means learning to delegate and learning to inspire employees to become followers.
